Workload Automation Working with Service Oriented Architecture

Mitigate Risk, Shorten Implementation Cycles, and Bridge the Gap to Legacy Systems with Workload Automation
With the promise of SOA come a few challenges. The path to SOA applications is a road map that many organizations struggle with. How quickly do they move to this architecture, what key applications should be the first to be migrated, and how to bridge the gap to existing (legacy) applications? Meeting these challenges requires the ability to correlate the changes with the business gains. The key factor in many organizations’ decision to move to a SOA application is the risk associated with the reengineering of key business processes compared to the perceived benefits.

Over 50% of the processing in the current application landscape is background (batch) processing. These processes have often been in place for over 20 years, are not well documented, and the knowledge of the process has moved on or retired. This poses a difficult decision for an organization’s management team. Is the benefit of SOA worth assuming the risk of potentially disrupting the existing information flow in the organization?
