Based in Frechen near Cologne, kdvz is an IT service provider for 37 local governments and runs the fourth biggest data processing center in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Currently kdvz runs more than 100 servers with different operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX, Netware). Process automation is not an alien word at kdvz. The data center has accumulated decades of experience and in-depth knowledge, especially in mainframe environments. The declining use of mainframe systems and rise of new client/server applications and corresponding growth in the number of jobs have dramatically increased the need for process automation in the kdvz client/server environment. The distribution of workload across multiple servers meant that manual scheduling and control was not possible – there just wasn’t time enough.  

Kdvz needed to find a way to control their processing activities more efficiently and selected UC4 having evaluated available solutions. In addition to providing centralized job scheduling, UC4 Workload Automation Suite allows kdvz to control dependencies, automate file transfers and output management processing.
