Service level management becoming key in light of cloud's rising success
Dec 29, 2011

As cloud computing becomes more popular among businesses of all sizes, organizations are increasingly taking a close look at service level agreements and considering the contract as a key competitive point between vendors, InformationWeek reported.

With SLAs becoming so much more important to clients, cloud vendors may need to invest in service level management systems to ensure they are able to offer more attractive contracts and meet standards more efficiently.

According to the news source, SLAs become much more difficult to configure and manage when working with the cloud, as the technology changes the way IT systems function and are maintained.

In the past, SLAs have favored vendors. The report said 2012 will see more SLAs that give clients the edge, however, making it more difficult for providers to manage their service levels effectively.

Datacenter automation can be integral in ensuring cloud providers are able to meet client needs and deliver service levels on a consistent bace. By tracking server performance, improving provisioning and streamlining maintenance, automation is emerging as a key service level management tool. Such systems create the flexibility needed to support cloud infrastructure.
